Healthcare Disparities in Sub-Saharan Africa

The lack of healthcare facilities and access to treatment in Sub-Saharan Africa forces those living in rural communities to rely on alternate remedies and travel long distances to seek medical care. Facing the highest burden of diseases while having the least amount of access to healthcare, these sub-saharan African countries remain in a cycle of poor healthcare and economic challenges. In order to increase the number of workers in healthcare, better conditions along with timely pay will prevent the loss of skilled workers in these areas, while ziplines can help with lowering the cost of medication and transportation. Since the cost of healthcare prevents people from being treated, expanding healthcare budgets reduces out-of-pocket expenses. Companies such as Amerf, provide treatment to people who are in isolated villages.

All in all, this case study uncovers the root causes to the outage and its impact, and key mediums to combatting similar outages in the future.

Critical Issues in Fraternities Across Campuses

The dangers of fraternity and sorority hazing is an undermined issue that is overlooked in our society today. The issue is a rising concern that many advocate for implementing safer measures. Peer pressure, social hierarchies, and legal issues come into play as they are the core problems leading to this concern. Fraternities praise partying which often leads to substance abuse that results in peer pressure becoming a serious consequence. These problems are easily disregarded as they are not addressed in the legal aspect. Although fraternities are viewed as connections to brotherhood and social life, hazing often leads to risky measures that could lead to serious consequences, and in some extreme cases, death. Many communities affected by hazing have implemented strong measures to  discontinue these threatening acts.
